What are these files? They are lists of the things we described above. We are only interested on these configuration files: nf, nf and nf. On SAI they can be chosen on the Layers panel: Papertex contains paper textures. Unrelated to brushes textures, these are textures you apply on a layer. They are the ones you choose here, right below the brush shape: For example, a simple circle brush shape can have a “dirt” texture. A brush can have a certain shape and it can have a texture. They are the ones you choose here, on the brush panel:īrushtex contains brushes textures. There are two types of maps which behave differently, which is why they are kept in two separate folders. If you open any of these folders you’ll see they contain BMP files, which are image files just like JPGs or GIFs.īlotmap and elemap contain the brushes shapes (“maps”). The only folders that interest us are blotmap, brushtex, elemap and papertex. This is where your SAI is installed with all its system files. HOW TO FIND WHERE PAINTTOOL SAI IS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER My approach is to explain how SAI works instead. I play around with the gradients a bit depending on the drawing. The easiest way to install new brushes and textures in SAI is to understand how it works. I’ve personally found that tutorials or step-by-step guides are more confusing rather than helpful. "Romance" and "Lagoon" are my personal favorites. ☆ Heroine filter (gradient map) my fav gradient map set!!! i use these almost every drawing. This is the brush I use for lining (non animated) emotes! ☆ PAINT TOOL SAI BRUSHES - here! I change the opacity for the "thin lines" brush frequently depending on the type of drawing I'm doing, and also the pressure of my tablet pen. ☆ GM Brush Pen Realistic traditional ink brushes! I think these are super cool This is also my go to brush for coloring fur ☆ SU-Cream Pencil I love this pen! Good for coloring and lining. ☆ Meltea Brush nice painterly looking brush! ☆ colouring brush can also be doubled as a coloring brush ☆ Rough marker A square brush, i mess with the angle and thickness for a different look. ☆ KOI Line Drawing Pen I only just recently downloaded this but it's nice ☆ Nong Pen can also be doubled as a coloring brush ☆ 00brush nice smooth soft lines, feels great to use! ☆ Pencil R a classic, i swear i hear so many artists mention this brush. ☆ calligraphy sketch nice texture, fun to doodle with! I like using this to line my more watercolory style drawings ☆ Beg1nn pen The brush I've been using for animated emotes! It feels great to use! Can be used for lining, coloring, painting, it's great!! I use the "MyPen + β / 마이펜 + β" ☆ MyPen + β I LOVE THESE PENS, it has an interesting shape and slight texture. ☆ G-Ras Pen (Air) Similar to Nacho pen, but has thinner sharper lines. ☆ Nacho Pen one of my favorite lining brushes! Also made by an amazing artist Drawing brush (sai feel) I've been using this brush a ton recently, i find it similar to my " thin lines" sai brush but it's for CSP!! I like it a lot! it's a great way to experiment and find new tools! I am constantly changing brushes so I may try and update this once I find new favorites. I recommend going on the CSP asset store frequently to find and test brushes. Most of these can be doubled for coloring and lining, have fun and use them however you feel works best for you! These are some of my favorite brushes I have been using for awhile.
